Professor Peter McDonald is the Head, Demography Program, Research School of Social Sciences, Australian National University. He is also Head of the ANU Centre of the Australian Housing and Urban Research Institute and a Director of the Australian Centre for Population Research. He is interested in the dynamics of social change and the processes of adaptation of policy to social change, especially demographic change. His recent work has focussed on the causes and implications of low fertility for population futures.
