Profile

Professor Peter Newton serves as Research Professor of Sustainable Urbanism in the Institute for Social Research at Swinburn University, and holds research leadership positions in the CRC for Low Carbon Living and the CRC for Spatial Information. With his social science background and 30 years of research experience in CSIRO, the last 15 as Chief Research Scientist, Professor Newton is a leader in socio-technical innovation as applied to the challenges of sustainable urban development. Other areas of expertise include: complex systems modelling, urban transition theory and state of environment reporting.
