Professor Anne Pauwels is Dean of the Faculty of Languages and Cultures, School of Oriental and African Studies, University of London.  She was formerly Executive Dean of the Faculty of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences, and Professor of Linguistics at the University of Western Australia. Professor Pauwels previously held the Foundation Chair of Linguistics at the University of New England. Her research interests are in bilingualism, language contact, language and gender, language policy, sociolinguistics and cross-cultural communication.
