Profile

Professor Barry Hindess was Emeritus Professor of Political Science in the School of Social Sciences, Australian National University. He worked on a variety of issues in contemporary politics, social and political theory, and the history of political thought. His research focused on:

  • modern understandings of societal difference
  • citizenship and political community
  • liberal and neo-liberal government
  • colonial rule and its post-colonial aftermath.
