It’s widely accepted that good policy should be based on a careful analysis of the very best evidence. Australia has a strong record in this regard. But in a ‘post truth’ world, it is clear that evidence-based policy making has fallen on hard times.

Instead populist, short term political agendas seem to be guiding policy discussions and outcomes.

Join our eminent panel Wednesday April 19, 2017 at the National Gallery as it discusses how to revive good government. Can good policy making be an answer to the conflict between politics and policy? Can the right policies, developed the right way, be the inspiration for a return to strong and visionary government?

Panelists are Professor Glenn Withers AO, Professor Meredith Edwards AM, Dr John Hewson, and Ms Katharine Murphy.
