Professor Allan Borowski has held  the Chair in Social Work and Social Policy at La Trobe University in Melbourne since 2000. He was Head of School between 2001 and 2003. Professor Borowski's major areas of research interest are the social, economic  and political impacts of international population movements and population ageing. He has also had a long-standing interest in juvenile crime, justice and corrections. In the latter area, he is currently focusing on the institution of the Children's Court.  He has been a Visiting Professor at Oxford University, The Hebrew University of Jerusalem, Hong Kong Polytechnic University, Jonkoping University (Sweden)  and Monash University.
