Profile

John Benson is a Professor and the Head of the School of Business at Monash University Malaysia and an Adjunct Professor in the Department of Management, Monash University Australia. Professor Benson specialises in industrial relations, the economic performance of firms, Japanese enterprises and unions, and the restructuring of the Chinese economy.  He is currently working on employer organizations in Asia as well as labour segmentation and inequality in China.  Other areas of expertise include knowledge work, outsourcing and generational change.  Key appointments over the last ten years include: advisor to the Australian Trade Commission, advisor to the European Union through its Foundation for the Improvement of Living and Working Conditions, Professor and Chair, Graduate School of International Business at the University of Tsukuba, Japan (2005-2006), and Professor and Head, School of Management, University of South Australia (2006-2013).
